Popular online gaming portal Bodog reported this week that it had secured a UK gaming license.
Bodog currently has three licenses: Bodog.co.uk, which operates out of Antigua and serves British and related jurisdictions, Bodog.eu, which operates from Kahnawake, and Bodog88, which operates from the Philippines and caters to Asian customers.
The new license, issued by the Gambling Commission of the United Kingdom, will allow the site to offer sports betting and online casino games to UK customers only. The site hopes to soon offer online poker and reported that a license to do so is in the works.
Officials with the company expect that it will take about three months for the site to begin operations. Some of the infrastructure must be in place (such as servers) and workers must be hired. Once the site is ready, Bodog.co.uk will shift its Antigua operations to the UK license.
The site expects that it will have licensing agreements with a number of companies that will allow it to create a marketing storm that will ensure knowledge of the online casino site by UK customers.
