PokerStars.net NAPT on ESPN2
As more and more people begin playing poker and watching poker on television, more television programming has been devoted to poker. ESPN announced this week it will air 16 episodes taped during the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour. The episodes will begin airing in April on ESPN2.
The North American Poker Tour (NAPT) began this year with the Pokerstars.net Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. The second leg begins Saturday in Las Vegas; it’s here that ESPN2 will begin filming the NAPT and footage from the tournament will begin airing April 19 to start off the 1-hour episodes of the 16-episode series.
The network will air the show again on April 26; the second original episode will follow a re-airing of the first episode and will feature coverage of the Venetian Casino $5,000 main event during the Las Vegas, USA Casinos leg of the NAPT.
ESPN’s coverage will then carry over into May when it airs episodes filmed during the NAPT stop at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut April 7 to 11. Coverage of this event will include the Mohegan Sun shootout and coverage of the main event.
Actress, model and poker player Joanna Krupa will host ESPN’s coverage of the NAPT.
At least one professional poker player is excited about EPSN’s planned coverage of the poker tournament. “Having the NAPT on ESPN2 is going to take poker on this content to a different level,” said Daniel Negreanu.
